The Frittering, or Glittering, End
by Joseph Pittano on March 9th, 2012
One of my favorite hymns is called My Jesus, I Love Thee. It was written in 1864 by a young man named William Ralph Featherston who died at the age of 27. He wrote this magnificent hymn when he was only 16 years old. Each stanza ends with the words, “If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.” Featherston speaks of singing these joyous words upon all his meditations of God’s love, and in a bright h... Read More

God Never Made a Dead Religion
by Joseph Pittano on February 29th, 2012
Judaism in Jesus’ day was in bad shape because of many of its leaders. To anyone God can say, “You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?” like in Matthew 23:33, chances are that things are not only bad, but as bad as they can be in that person’s faith! The Jewish leaders circa A.D. 30 displayed the most evil and wicked hatred of God that, perhaps, the world has e... Read More

The Miraculous
by Joseph Pittano on February 27th, 2012
A preacher once remarked how the power present at the new birth, John 3:3, is no less a power as that present at the creation of the worlds. Consider three things, Christian: 1) God merely spoke and in six days (Exodus 20:11) created everything any eye has ever seen. He hung balls of metal and rock like the earth weighing in at near 6.6 sextillion tons on nothing, and created the gravity that... Read More

The Glory is What Moves Us
by Joseph Pittano on February 23rd, 2012
It is truly the glory of the gospel that drives us to reach out. It is the glory of Christ! It’s not primarily the rise of our sanctification, the joy of obedience, the edification of the body, or even the salvation of sinners. In the end, the reason we love to honor God is the joy of honoring God. There was an old Keith Green song called Oh, Lord, You’re Beautiful. The chorus went, “I want to tak... Read More

The Hypostatic Union
by Joseph Pittano on January 27th, 2012
The Hypostatic Union[Download here]“By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory,”1 Timothy 3:16. The context of the passage above teaches the church that God Himself at one time became a man. In English His name is Jesus. “Christ... Read More

Satan's Ism
by Joseph Pittano on December 31st, 2011
Satan’s ism [Download here]“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it,”John 8:44. A Satanist is not necessarily a volitional follower of Satan. With the evil ... Read More
