The Exodus and a Sound Theology on the Atonement of Christ
The animal blood that was shed and then placed on the doorposts of the homes of the Hebrews enslaved in Egypt was a work accomplished in a night. The plagues went before it, but Passover commemorates one night. The feast of Passover was an annual celebration of that night that went on for nearly 1,500 years. The blood of Christ was shed on one day, and Christians ever since are to remember it as often as they wish. We’ve been doing it now for just under 2,000 years. It is no on-going sacrifice as we’ll see. Let’s examine some of the parallels we can draw between Calvary and the Exodus to see how Protestant theology on the atonement properly represents the gloriously rich symbology of the body and blood of Christ and the finished work of atonement Christ made on Golgotha.
God bless!!!
