What Abraham Received From God Is the Basis of Our Imputation (16 min)

Joseph Pittano

The doctrine of imputed righteousness is the gospel fully articulated. This is the Protestant Reformation in its simplest term. We get it from many streams of evidence. We get it from direct exegesis, from biblical autobiographies, and from good and necessary consequences from Scripture. Knowing 1) all of the facets of the promise God irrevocably credited to Abraham (and Israel from him) by faith (Romans 4), and 2, the fixedness of that promise from day one is the basis for building this doctrine rightly from the Bible. The simplicity and sublimity of this doctrine is only found in the Faith at the Cross of Jesus Christ! It is unmistakably clear. We need a perfect righteousness. Abraham did too. It is the only way God works.
