Melchizedez and his likeness to the Son is the main focus of this section of Hebrews. Jesus is the Great High Priest of the New Covenant. He is better than Melchizedek. How that works is a matter of his priestly authority. Where does he get that priesthood? What does Melchizedek have to do with it? Where does the Levitical Priesthood fit in? We’ll go back to Genesis 14 and see the interaction of Abram and Melchizedek to understand Hebrews 7 better.
