In Mark 12:29-31 Jesus says the greatest of his commandments is, “The foremost is, ‘Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Let's imagine for just a moment that mankind could uphold the second great commandment without the first. And let’s imagine the world obeying the second command!
