Is Your Gospel a Joke (29 min)
Question for you, Christian: with the Spirit of God bearing you witness in your heart, and by the fruit of your joyous living seen by your works and those in your life, are you able to distinguish yourself as someone who no longer “practices sin?” Are you able to say at all that you’re joyously pursuing that holiness in this life without which no one will ever see God? Hebrews 12:14; 2 Corinthians 7:1, etc. I truly want you to. In Christ, such is what God has for us in every good area of our lives. 1 Thessalonians 4:3. If you can’t testify to this, then maybe, just maybe, your gospel is not the Gospel at all. Learning this may be very good news for you. The Spirit of God changes us if we’re in Jesus to be more like Jesus. The Gospel delivers us from death by virtue of a new heart. We turn from sin to God. By virtue of the imputation of Jesus’ righteousness we have to learn to live new lives into eternity. This is good news. It’s not constraint it’s freedom. It’s not bondage it’s liberation. It’s not death it’s life and that eternal. Christians maturing in their faith can begin to speak boldly of the grace they’ve received. Not arrogantly, boldly. In all humility, they understand their place and privilege to learn to, “Draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16. I want this for you. Repent of your sin, trust in Jesus, and follow Jesus. He will make these things plain to you.
God bless!!!
