James. Part 3. 1:12-21
Today, as we continue through God’s word we’ll begin with a consideration of what that crown of life is that Christians are to receive when approved. We’ll take some time in vv. 13-17 to consider the subject of theodicy. We’ll reference the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689’s chapter 5 (https://founders.org/library/chapter-5-divine-providence/) to assist us with what I hope is a good understanding of what James tells us here about our God that while we face trials and even temptations in this world, nothing evil is ever in God or from God. All evil comes from his creation, at his discretion, but no evil befalls us from his righteous hands ever. Knowing this helps us to lean more firmly on God and not even on ourselves. Why does God save anyone in vs. 18? Why did he rescue the Israelites? We’ll consider this and many other subjects as we continue through the text today.
God bless!!!
