Prayer. Blessed Are the Burdened. Part 2. FBCH Evening Service

First Baptist Church of Hinesville, GA hosted its annual Bible conference this week. The theme this year was all on prayer. They had a week’s worth of ministry works both for the church and for the community all centered on prayer. I had the privilege of closing out the week’s work with two messages on Sunday, 23 Aug 26.

This is the second of those two messages.

In all of Paul’s works toward the churches, he spoke of his life as, “…filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions” in Colossians 1:24. Sin had been paid for in full, but people still live in a fallen world. There’s suffering to be had. Colossae was doing well as a church, and Paul commends them. Yet they were not perfect. Just like them, all churches still have suffering. All churches have sin issues. They have sickness issues, doubts and trials. In light of the lives we all live in this world, we have to pray. Prayer is a privilege of the Christian. Prayer is joyous duty laid upon the shoulders of the Christian in this life. It has far reaching implications on everything we do. Prayer comes with salvation. Prayer shapes us. Christ bears with his people, and he calls us all to bear with one another alongside him. Prayer also comes along with Christian fellowship. Prayer comes with seeing one’s whole life in light of the grand scheme of the glory of God in the world. If you are serving others, prayer is a necessary part of loving them. We pray these messages will help you see the role that your prayers play in loving God and loving your neighbors as well.
