How We Can Trust the Bible

I gave a talk tonight to Christians on some simple truths about how we can really trust the Bible. Yes, we can and should always include in this subject some information about dates, manuscripts and other such data, but for the discerning Christian, what really seals the deal for us? How is it we who believe can rest even more in the certainty of the word of God? How about how Jesus viewed the Scriptures of his day? Could you want a better interpretive lens than how the Son of God himself spoke of and trusted in the words of the prophets? I don’t think so. How about obedience as the path to understanding? Is this not how God makes the truth of his word known to us? It surely is. So, my goal today was to give a short talk to help the church, to help believers understand the sure foundation of the word of God in our laps. There was a good twenty-minute or so Q&A session, but we didn’t plan ahead to have some mics in the audience so that the questions could be picked up on the recording, so we edited out that part. We hope you’re blessed by considering this subject with us tonight.
