The atoning work of Jesus Christ is a once-for-all-time sacrifice. It is finished. Today we begin our examination of just some of its many facets. It was a propitiatory work, a vicarious work, and a perfect work. What was its primary focus? What was its secondary focus? These are some of the terms and questions we’ll begin examining today.

Next week, Lord willing, we’ll continue in chapter 27 579.d “New Testament Terms Describing Different Aspects of the Atonement” through 594.4 or the section entitled, “Conclusion Regarding the Apostles’ Creed and the Question of Christ’s Possible Descent Into Hell”.
