What exactly is the message of Jesus? Is it just, “Be nice to people?” Or, “Be a good person?” While those two things are very good things in that we should be nice and should try to be good before God, if they’re the Gospel they’re ultimately just bad news because our sins will only serve to show how short we fall of doing either. Besides, no one gets crucified or hated for just telling people to “be nice” or “be good.” The Gospel must be something else. Something more. It is.
