A preacher once remarked how the power present at the new birth, John 3:3, is no less a power as that present at the creation of the worlds. Consider three things, Christian:
1) God merely spoke and in six days (Exodus 20:11) created everything any eye has ever seen. He hung balls of metal and rock like the earth weighing in at near 6.6 sextillion tons on nothing, and created the gravity that holds them all in relative and perpetual motion. Go below the earth for eternity and there is nothing but the canvas of God’s imagination we call space. Go above and out on all sides and return to behold His limitless genius! Psalm 19:1. I don’t need to explain only the unknown as God; I need to explain it all as God! He created every creature both fluffy and terrible in hours, and made it all to sustain itself.
2) To bring about the redemption of mankind in the Son, the Godhead toiled for thousands of years. Every arrow on the battlefield, the rise and fall of every leader and civilization, the Exodus, the giving of the law, every rock at the heads of giants, every battle, every prophecy and the strivings of evil men. All of it was to prepare a truth to be honored in the perfect life of the God-Man who would teach the world about God in full. All of it culminated so that the sinners of all generations could hit their knees and call out on the mercy of God. Another preacher once said, “To create God merely had to speak, but to redeem God had to suffer.”
3) “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him?” Hebrews 2:3.
