“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.” 1 Corinthians 9:24. There is great reward from God for obedience. Not just that obedience itself is the reward, true as that is, but reward as in honor and rejoicing with God to come for our service. We sometimes forget this because we need to spend so much time warring against our carnality to appreciate God’s free grace toward us in Christ, but there truly is great reward for obedience. This truth is in fact all over Scripture. Hebrews 11:6 reads, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” This short message is to remind you of that. An analogy came to mind recently that I wanted to share with you hoping it’d compliment what Scripture says regarding the matter. May it do so today. God bless.
