Joshua and Judges Overview (56 min)

Title: Joshua and Judges Overview (56 min)
Message Description:

Near the end of the Book of Joshua we read: “So the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and lived in it. And the Lord gave them rest on every side, in accordance with everything that He had sworn to their fathers, and no one of all their enemies stood before them; the Lord handed all their enemies over to them. Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; everything came to pass.” Joshua 21:43-45.

At the end of the Book of Judges we read: “In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Judges 21:25.

Between these two time periods is hundreds of years of elapsed history. Joshua and Judges cover a long period of time. Today, I pray to do some justice to the remarkable teachings of these two books in overview fashion. I pray you’re edified as you listen in, and that your heart is pointed toward Christ the better leader, better King, better lawgiver, and better judge. God used the Hebrews as a sword during the conquest of Cana. At times, God used the people of Cana as a sword against the Hebrews. Other nations as well in their history would be the same. We as Christians must understand these things as we consider where God is sending us. We’ll see how God fulfilled his promises to and through these people in their day. We’ll see what happens when God allows the Hebrews to govern themselves. We’ll see our own nature demonstrated in their lives, and hopefully, this will point us heavenward as it did many of them.

God bless!
