Hello! Before we begin in 1 John 2 today, we’ll talk a little bit about success, God’s timing in our lives, and how to know we’re in the will of God as believers. Then we’ll dive in to consider another way John writes to show believers their Savior’s life at work in them- by their love for each other. He writes to us here, as in all his writings, with his later-stated goal in mind: “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13. We’ll consider other passages like John 13. (Meant to go to John 17, but ran out of time). Leviticus 19:18, Deuteronomy 6:5, and 2 John 5-6. We’ll also read from a part of John Calvin’s “Institutes of the Christian Religion” (book 3, chapter 11, sections 1-3).
