1 John Study. Part 3. 1 John 2:1-6 (63 min)

Title: 1 John Study. Part 3. 1 John 2:1-6 (63 min)
Message Description:

We have a bit of Q&A before we dive in to our passage today. I really enjoy that. We should always ask questions! As we then begin in 1 John 2 today, we’ll see how John’s counsel in this section imparts a surety in Christ that changes lives. When Christians understand their adopted status in God they can rest in the Messiah. The truth of it molds the believer’s heart to trust fully in God in a way only a son or a daughter can trust in a loving father. That is the life of the believer. There is a universe of difference between those who believe in God (who today repent and trust in Christ alone) and those who don’t. Between those in covenant with God and with those outside of it. Romans 10:11 reads, “…Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” That’s what John’s words here can teach us. Jesus is our propitiation. He is our advocate if we sin. Today’s passage (and ones to come in 1 John) teaches us that we can be forgiven for sin, still commit sin, and yet be adopted by God. We must understand this if our repentance is to mean anything.
